Many residents will already know that our Mayor, Councillor Julie Exton has recently had a heart attack. We are very pleased to say that Julie is now at home recovering and is expected to make a full recovery over time. Unfortunately, however, Julie is unlikely to be able to return to her Mayoral and councillor responsibilities for the time being. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Campbell Ritchie will therefore deputise for Julie for the foreseeable future.

We all extend our very best wishes to Julie and her husband, Councillor Phil Exton, and Julie’s family for her speedy recovery. Phil will return to his councillor responsibilities shortly.

We would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that Julie’s charity fundraising events will be going ahead as planned.

Julie’s Mayoral Ball will also take place on Saturday 4th April. Full information and tickets will be available from Eventbrite from Monday 2nd March, so please save the date.

We will have a get-well soon card for Julie at our fantastic Community Day this Saturday the 8th February. Julie has inspired and made this event happen and we hope that everyone who comes along to this fun filled and memorable occasion will sign the card as a small token our support and thanks for the amazing contribution Julie has already made as Mayor in her Mayoral year. Look out for it in the Town Hall Foyer.
